 MISSION STATEMENT

ANNUAL UPDATE

The purpose of the Mendocino County Lodging Association (MCLA) is to provide a forum to define and promote the general interests of its members and the Lodging industry in Mendocino County.

MCLA's mission is to:
1. Provide, support and communicate information about programs and services that advance the Lodging industry in Mendocino County.
2. Advocate for the promotion of the Mendocino County lodging industry by maintaining a County-wide Business Improvement District (“BID”) and overseeing the disbursement of funds raised.
3. Represent MCLA to other organizations, such as the Mendocino County Promotional Alliance, the Mendocino Wine Grape and Wine Commission, local Chambers of Commerce, County and City elected officials.

MAY EVENTS & FESTIVALS THAT MOM WILL ENJOY

The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens presents the 35th Annual John Druecker Memorial Rhododendron Show and Plant Sale on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6. The show is open to the public Saturday from 1:30 pm to 5 pm and Sunday 9 am to 4 pm, with Plant Sale from 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and until 4 pm on Sunday. One of the largest shows on the West Coast with over 700 entries, visitors are invited to view the selection and purchase Rhododendrons of their own. Local nursery managers will be on hand to help you select the perfect plant and docent tours will be offered during the day. Those wishing to enter the show should bring their entries to MCBG on Saturday, May 5 between 7 am and 9:30 am. Judging will take place immediately after and all winning entries will be rewarded with ribbons and trophies! On Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, Hopland area wineries show off their finest in Rhone, Italian, Burgundian, and Bordeaux varietals ranging from Arneis to Zinfandel at Hopland Passport. You’ll receive a Passport logo glass, entry to all wine tastings, food pairings and entertainment at all fifteen participating wineries. On Saturday, May 19 enjoy “A Cappella by the Sea: Concert and Master Class for A Cappella Maniacs.” Gloriana Musical Theatre presents an evening of song with EarReverence and their guests, The Acafellas and In the Mix. EarReverence sings an eclectic mix of jazz, comedy and pop performed a cappella and features Nick Reid, Valerie Reid, Bill Bordisso and Carol Cole-Lewis. The master class portion takes place from 1 pm to 3 pm at Evergreen Church in Fort Bragg and is free to performers; a $10 donation is requested for observers. The concert takes place in the Abalone River in the Little River Inn at 7:30 pm.

Showcasing some of California’s highest quality pinot noirs, the Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Fest, held May 18-20, 2012, pays homage to the crisp varietals that pair so perfectly with the local fare. The festival invites visitors to a grand tasting event where over 40 pinot noirs and rosés will be on pour and evening winemaker dinners will spotlight local cuisine.
